Japan Human Brain Mapping Society aims to contribute to the advancement of neuroscience by facilitating the exchange of information on the latest basic research and clinical applications in brain activity measurement, brain function visualization, and brain function modulation. This includes techniques such as scalp EEG, intracranial EEG, magnetoencephalography (MEG), near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS), MRI, PET, SPECT, and various stimulation methods like electric, magnetic, and ultrasound stimulation.

The society covers a wide range of brain functions, from biological functions such as motor and sensory processes to higher cognitive functions including memory, language, and decision-making. It seeks to deepen the understanding of their neural foundations, addressing functional impairments due to diseases and their treatments, developing techniques for functional preservation during surgery, and exploring cutting-edge implantable electrical stimulation therapies.

The society provides a valuable opportunity for researchers and clinicians involved in human brain function research, human brain imaging, and broader human neuroscience to come together. It serves as a unique platform for experts from diverse fields including medicine, engineering, information science, and psychology to interact and exchange knowledge.
