In April 2024, the Japan Human Brain Mapping Society and the Japanese Human Brain Imaging Society merged to form the Japanese Human Brain Mapping Society, leveraging their respective strengths for further development. The previous Japan Human Brain Mapping Society, established in 1999, primarily focused on brain mapping techniques such as Electroencephalography (EEG), Magnetoencephalography (MEG), functional MRI (fMRI), Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (NIRS), and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS). The Japanese Human Brain Imaging Society, founded in 2017, specialized in fMRI, Positron Emission Tomography (PET), MEG and connectome research. We aim to enhance and further develop brain research across a wide range of fields through our present merging.
In recent years, technologies for visualizing brain structure and function have advanced dramatically, yielding many new insights. The Japanese Human Brain Mapping Society is committed to advancing brain science through the development of brain mapping and imaging technologies, conducting brain research using these techniques, and fostering young researchers. We would like to contribute to further advances in both fields of neuroscience research and clinical applications with our above efforts.
One of our society’s aims is to provide opportunities for information exchange and collaborative research among researchers, healthcare professionals, and students, which must finally contribute to the advancement of brain science. Strengthening international collaboration and creating new knowledge together with researchers worldwide is also another our aim. We are enhancing our operational structure through several newly made committees and working to develop even more attractive, comprehensive programs in our congresses.
We will continue to enhance our society’s activities with your massive cooperation. We would appreciate your continuous full support for us to accomplish our goal of further progress of neuroscience.
